In this video interview, season eight contestant Adam Lambert talks about this season of American Idol, sharing some praise for finalist Jessica Sanchez and reflecting on revisiting the set of the show. “Her voice is crazy,” says Lambert of Sanchez’s singing ability. “She’s somebody I could see making really interesting albums.”

On the whole, the current season has been a good one, Lambert says: “I think the talent was really high this year. The singers were singing – really singin’!” Sanchez and Phillip Phillips will duel for the season eleven Idol crown on May 22nd and 23rd.

On May 15, Adam Lambert returned with Trespassing, the long-awaited followup to his 2010 debut. The album presents the “American Idol” alum as a man at odds, its first half a parade of electro-inspired party anthems, followed by a glimpse at Glambert’s “dark side,” a series of emotionally charged ballads, marking a collective departure from the decadent glam-rock that won fans over on “Idol.”

Lambert recently visited AOL Music’s Los Angeles studio, where he performed a selection of songs from the new album, showcasing his tremendous range, whilst trading jokes with his band. After his impassioned performance, we talked with Adam about his incredible journey from “Idol” contestant to pop icon, touching on everything from his relationship with boyfriend Sauli Koskinen and their plans for fatherhood, to the inspiration he’s received from his loyal fan base. Lambert also opened up about the “dark side” of Trespassing … the side he’s previously kept hidden from his fans.

Adam Lambert captivated America in 2009 when he almost won American Idol. Lambert was brash, likable and glamorous, but he soon became better known for being the first openly gay Idol contender.

Though Lambert finished as the runner-up, his popularity and talent won him a recording deal. He released his second studio album, Trespassing, this week — just a few months after his 30th birthday.

“I think, for the majority of my twenties, I was always so concerned with what I didn’t have, or what I still wanted,” Lambert tells NPR’s Guy Raz. “It was always about a chase and going after something. This year I’ve focused more on being thankful for what I already have — being content with what I’ve already accomplished, or who is already in my life, not what I’ve yet to find or get.”

Trespassing’s second single, currently making the radio rounds, is the glam-pop throwback “Never Close Our Eyes” — written by fellow pop star Bruno Mars.

“Nowadays in pop, there’s not a lot of men that are singing big and loud and high — it’s not as common as it once was,” Lambert says. “So I got this track from Bruno and I thought, that’s a great melody, great lyric — I know how I want to sing it. I want to sing it big.”

ニューアルバムの売り上げ、チャート等ももちろん大切だけど、それよりも自分が時間をかけて作り上げた音楽を批評家やファンが好きだ、いいアルバムだと言ってくれる事の方が自分には価値ある事だと話しています。
ただ、アルバムの成功はその先の可能性を広げる事に直接繋がるので（次に作る物の予算が多くもらえたり、テレビ出演が増えたり、自分の音楽をより多くの人たちに届けられるので）、それはそれで大切な事だし嬉しい事だとも話しています。

チャート１位になりそうだね、と言われて、そうだといいなって。

It was a homecoming last night, as Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert made an appearance on “American Idol” once again.

It was a perfect time for Lambert to return to the stage that first made him a star, since his “Trespassing” album was just released on Tuesday.

He performed his new single, “Never Close Our Eyes,” a song that finds him working with two of pop’s reigning hitmakers — it was co-written and produced by Bruno Mars and Dr. Luke!

After the show, Fox All Access producer Jeff Axelrod briefly caught up with Lambert backstage to talk about the new album’s creative process, and to get his thoughts on Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips, this year’s “Idol” finalists.

Adam Lambert graced the American Idol stage on Thursday’s results show with a colorful performance of “Never Close Our Eyes,” from his new album Trespassing.
After the show, the glam rocker caught up with judges Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson then greeted the press, including THR’s special Idol correspondent and season 9 alum Didi Benami.
“This has been my obsession over the past year and a half,” said Lambert of Trespassing. And for good reason: he co-wrote most of the songs and served as the executive producer on the album which is expected to land at the top spot on the Billboard 200.
